Jason Whitlock: Fever Need 'Enforcers' and 'Goons' to Protect Caitlin Clark

Jason Whitlock: "Your meal ticket is under constant attack and there’s been dirty plays all season. Some of them have been exaggerated and it’s just typical rough play, but there are some that it’s just been dirty, and Dijonai is one of these people who have a real problem with Caitlin Clark.
This off-season they have to dump NaLyssa Smith. I half-way like NaLyssa, I don't think she plays properly, I think she looks for her shot too often, but NaLyssa is like this 6'4" power forward that they have who should be the enforcer the same way Charles Oakley was for Michael Jordan. NaLyssa Smith should be that for Caitlin Clark. But do you know why she can’t be? Because according to all reports she’s dating and/or likes Dijonai Carrington. That’s how twisted and screwed up this WNBA thing, and this sexuality thing is they got going on in the WNBA. That Caitlin Clark’s ‘goon’ and 'enforcer' has feelings for the opposition’s player.
And this is how you know it's true... NaLyssa Smith is starter who played nine minutes [in Game 1] in a game they needed her. It was a very physical game. Connecticut was playing very physical basketball, and they only played their most physical player nine minutes. It's not because of foul trouble, it's not because of anything, it's because they know damn well that their most physical player has mixed emotions going into the game because her boo Dijonai is on the court. This is insanity. She’s got to go sooner than later. When we heard Sheryl Swoopes say 'HEY, THERE ARE PEOPLE IN INDIANA WHO WANT OUT OF THERE!', she's talking about NaLyssa Smith. Everybody else is happy. Aliyah Boston gets the ball in her sweetspot on the court, Lexie Hull is bombing three-pointers, Kelsey Mitchell feeds off of Caitlin's passing... Everybody else is thrilled. Caitlin Clark makes the game easy for everybody else. NaLyssa can't hop on board. She's gotta get out of there. They need a real enforcer They need people who have Caitlin Clark's back.
It's no different than Wayne Gretzky. He had a guy Dave Semenko. Took care of all of Wayne Gretzky's problems on the ice. If someone wanted to get physical with Gretzky, Dave Semenko took care of it. That's hockey, but let's stick to basketball. Isiah Thomas? Mahorn and Laimbeer. They knew what their job was. 'Isiah is our guy, he's our leader, he's our provider, he's our shot creator.' They took care of Isiah Thomas. They were the enforcers, they were the goons. Michael Jordan had Charles Oakley...
Someone tweeted at me saying 'CAITLIN CLARK NEEDS TO FIGHT BACK!'... Do you know what would happen if she fought back in a real way? She did and slapped Carrington later in the game. It was clear as day. She pretended like she was extending her arm, but she slapped Carrington. Caitlin Clark is not a punk. She's smart enough to know that fighting some angry Black lesbians is not her job and it would lead to a collapse of the league. If there is ever a video of Caitlin Clark having a fight with one of these angry, tatted-up, Black lesbians the whole league collapses because no one wants to see that, and then all hell breaks loose. It would be like the ‘Malice in the Palace.’ She's got to be smart in how she fights back. The number one thing she needs is her teammates, and particularly NaLyssa Smith, to do the fighting for her. That's not Aliyah Boston's job. I know she's got the size but that's not her personality. Aliyah Boston is one of the nicest, most positive people on the planet. There's nothing ghetto about Aliyah Boston. It's the opposite.
You gotta have an enforcer, this has been the tradition in sports. When you have a star that is this big that people are jealous of and people are angry at... In hockey they used to try and beat up Wayne Gretzky. If they knew they could rough him up they could take the Edmonton Oilers out of their game. So they had a guy named Dave Semenko who would come in and fight Gretzky's fights and make sure people paid a price for playing rough with Wayne Gretzky. That's what you have to have here in the WNBA and it needs to be a Black girl that has Caitlin's back. Because if it’s a White girl it's going to turn into a race thing and all the race baiters at ESPN will turn it into something that it’s not.”

Watch Jason Whitlock of Blaze TV's Fearless explain why he thinks the Indiana Fever must surround Caitlin Clark with a 'goon' or 'enforcer' if the Fever are ever going to compete for a WNBA title, saying the amount of jealousy towards Clark has become increasingly hostile, recently in the form of Dijonai Carrington's 'intentional attack' on Clark according to Whitlock, with Jason adding that Fever forward NaLyssa Smith's rumored relationship with Carrington is putting the Fever at a massive disadvantage in their series with the Connecticut Sun.

Check out the segment above as Whitlock details how the league is failing to protect their most lucrative asset, saying if 'cowardly' WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert is refusing to suspend Carrington for her dirty play on Clark, then the Fever have to police the court themselves with an enforcer who has Clark's back who will deliver vengeful punishment to the other team.
