Warren Sapp: “For the question of the hour, what is the status on AB?”
Drew Rosenhaus: “I believe that Antonio wants to continue his career in the NFL… I have had discussions with a few teams that are very interested in him and want to know about his future and what’s going on with the NFL. Hopefully when that is all resolved Antonio will be able to continue his Hall of Fame career… The hope is to cooperate with the NFL and their investigation and get him back with a team to continue this tremendous career… It’s my hope and Antonio’s hope that he will be back in the NFL as soon as possible.” (Full Interview at Bottom of Page)
Antonio Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus made an appearance on NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp’s podcast on Wednesday and said that his client is not retiring.
This obviously would go against Brown’s outlandish tweets over the weekend that saw Brown go on a bizarre Twitter tirade that included him saying that he’s not playing in the NFL anymore.
The Patriots released Brown on Friday, September 20th and a seemingly contrite Brown made tweets that the thanked Patriots organization for giving him the opportunity to play there after he was released by the Raiders. But then two days later on Sunday morning, Brown took to his now-infamous Twitter account and announced to his 1.6 million followers that he’s not coming back to the NFL.
In the tweet Brown alluded to the Patriots voiding his $9.1 million signing bonus, saying “These owners can cancel deals and do whatever they want at any time. We will see if the NFLPA holds them accountable. Sad they can just void guarantees anytime… We will see if they pay up!”
Even before Brown tweeted that he was done with football, NFL teams had reportedly made inquiries into Brown’s ongoing legal problems that still to this point aren’t criminal in nature.
Brown’s nightmare with New England followed his utterly embarrassing month with the now-humiliated Oakland Raiders.
Brown had missed extended time because of a cryotherapy ‘accident’ in which he suffered frostbite on his feet, then he missed practices because of a helmet grievance, then nearly came to blows with general manager Mike Mayock, then hired a public relations firm to brainstorm ways to self-sabotage his way off the team. All in the span of about four weeks.
On Monday it was reported that Brown was re-enrolling at Central Michigan University. Brown posted to his official Instagram account an IG story that included a screenshot of a college class schedule for the Fall 2019-2020 semester that had the caption ‘Back to School’ with an @CMUAthletics tag at the bottom of the screen.
Brown’s picture included a workload of four online classes, including MGT 312 (Introduction to Management), ENG 303 (English - Technical Writing), REL 334 (Religion – Death and Dying), and SOC 323 (Sociology – Racism and Equality)
Brown attended Central Michigan University from 2007-2010 and played three years on the Chippewas before entering the 2010 NFL Draft as an underclassmen.
Brown is 31 years old and has accumulated 11,263 receiving yards (34th all time) and 75 touchdowns for his career.
