Jon Kitna on his time with the Bengals: “I don’t wanna throw anybody under the bus but… there was a time that I played a game with a guy that was drunk in the huddle," Kitna said. "There was a time that a guy showed up late to a game. In the NFL, you need to be there two hours, two hours and 15 minutes ahead of time. And he showed up under an hour before the game even started. Those are weird things, now. That's tough… I'm not sure if the staff knew. But I think the guy was like— that was kind of his normal. I mean he was drunk and had close to 200 yards receiving now. It was crazy."
Former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna had some eye-opening admissions on the Ryen Russillo Podcast on Tuesday, as the long-time 1990’s gunslinger said that he once played with a ‘drunk’ wide receiver in the huddle during his time in Cincinnati.
Kitna played on the Bengals from 2001-2005, starting 46 games in the pre-Carson Palmer era. Kitna told Ryen Russillo about a story while playing for the Bengals that entailed, ‘I don’t wanna throw anybody under the bus but… there was a time that I played a game with a guy that was drunk in the huddle.’
Kitna added ‘he was drunk and had close to 200 yards receiving. It was crazy.’
Former Bengals offensive lineman Willie Anderson, a five-time All-Pro with the Bengals who played with Kitna in Cincinnati, replied to a video of Kitna’s comments simply with three laughing emojis.
Kitna finished his career with 29,745 passing yards and led the league in completions in 2006.
