Nick Wright: Julian Edelman Making Hall of Fame Would Be Insulting to NFL

Chris Broussard: “Is Julian Edelman a Hall of Famer?”

Nick Wright: “It’s not only insulting to guys like our colleagues Shannon Sharpe, guys who are actually Hall of Famers, but it’s insulting to anyone who has ever made the ballot. It’s a ridiculous conversation… The guy has never made a Pro Bowl. The guy has never been an All-Pro. There has not be a single month of his career where he was one of the 20 best receivers in football. He has an unbelievable playoff resume because he has had so many bites of the apple because of the team that he’s been on. This is the best cross-sport comparison I can think of – I compare him to Derek Fisher. Derek Fisher is like top 4 all-time in playoff and Finals minutes. He’s got a bunch of rings and he was valuable to those championship teams.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to FS1's Nick Wright join the Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker to explain why he thinks the idea of the now-retired Julian Edelman making the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day is ‘ridiculous’ and ‘insulting’ to all players currently enshrined in Canton.

Edelman will finish his career with only 6,822 yards receiving and 35 touchdowns, never making a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team despite three 1,000+ yard seasons, but he was an important member of all three of the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl championships, including winning the Super Bowl MVP in 2019 when the Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams.

Edelman ranks second all-time in postseason receiving yards and receptions, only behind Jerry Rice.
