Blazin' 5: Colin Cowherd Gives His Five Best NFL Bets For Week 2

(VIDEO SEGMENT ABOVE)

Week 1 Blazin' 5 record: 3-2

Commanders at Lions (SPREAD: DET -1.5)

“I like Detroit here at home -1.5. They’re 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games so they’re a good cover team. People forget this, Jared Goff at home has been great, 97.3 passer rating and 68.9% completion percentage. He’s been a great home quarterback. He doesn’t have a big arm but there’s no wind inside. The Commanders defense last week allowed almost 6.5 yards per play to the JAGUARS, with a second-year quarterback and bad o-line. Detroit has a really good line and lots of offensive weapons. Lions win 27-21.”

Colin's prediction: Lions 27, Commanders 21.

Colin's pick: Detroit -1.5

Patriots at Steelers (SPREAD: NE -2.5)

“I’m going to take the Patriots -2.5, a slight favorite at Pittsburgh. First of all, the Patriots haven’t started 0-2 in 21 years, but beyond that Belichick has been really strong against Pittsburgh and Tomlin, he holds them to about 18 points per game. Mac Jones won six roadies last year, don’t worry about that, what I worry about is the Steelers; TJ Watt out and Najee Harris not healthy. Let’s be honest, they got a lead with Trubisky and basically clung to life. He averaged 5.1 yards per attempt with those receivers. This coaching staff doesn’t trust this quarterback. I think Belichick is going to own Trubisky, it’s going to be defense mostly, and the Patriots get a win 24-20.”

Colin's prediction: Patriots 24, Steelers 20.

Colin's pick: New England -2.5

Buccaneers at Saints (SPREAD: TB -2.5)

“Listen, Brady is 0-4 against the Saints [in the regular season] for a reason, they’ve got really good defensive players. I like the Saints to win here, they’re getting points at home. Jameis Winston, for all his quirkiness, was great in the second half [of Week 1]. He’s got Michael Thomas back, he had five catches. He’s got Jarvis Landry now, a really good number two receiver. The Bucs offense has o-line issues, banged up at receiver – Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones, Russell Gage, all banged up this week along with their offensive line, and I get the Saints getting points at home?? I mean, you watched Tampa last week, Dallas was BAD, Tampa really wasn’t that good, they struggled offensively. I like the Saints to win out by a field goal 27-24.”
Colin's prediction: Saints 27, Bucs 24.

Colin's pick: New Orleans +2.5

Bears at Packers (SPREAD: GB -9.5)

“I hate big favorites but I think Green Bay -9.5 is the big favorite I most love this weekend. Listen, they’re 9-0 after a loss under LaFleur, and Rodgers has owned the Bears; 22-2 in his career. But here’s the thing, Bears got outgained by 130 yards by the Niners and their offensive line ranked 31st according to PFF. They averaged fewer yards per play than any team in the league and had the fewest yards, they just beat a worse offense. Chicago is not a good team, they’ve got a bad o-line, and I think the Packers defense is the best defense they’ve had personnel wise maybe in Aaron Rodgers’ career. I think Green Bay rolls. The Bears defense also allowed the highest passer rating to quarterbacks last year, it’s why they drafted a corner and safety with their first picks. Aaron rolls, wins by 11 and it won’t be that close, 31-20.”

Colin's prediction: Packers 31, Bears 20.

Colin's pick: Green Bay -9.5

Vikings at Eagles (SPREAD: PHI -1.5)

“Love the Vikings but not Kirk Cousins on Monday night. I’m taking the Eagles here. I’m sorry, Andy Dalton or Kirk Cousins in a big Monday Night game I’m running for the hills. The Eagles scored 38 points [last week], they had no giveaways. It’s a productive offense. They had the most Big Plays [over 20 yards] in the NFL last season with 128. Do you realize that? It’s a big play offense they’re just contrarian and different.  Against the Lions they did it again –passing, running, RPO’s; it’s a handful and it’s hard to duplicate at practice. Kirk Cousins is 2-9 for his career on Monday Night, and the Vikings are coming off a massive primetime divisional win. They'll pull back, go on the road, the Eagles are going to ball-control you to death so Justin Jefferson is going to watch more of this game than he’s going to play. I like the Eagles to win a wildly entertaining game 28-24 on Monday Night Football.”

Colin's prediction: Eagles 28, Vikings 24

Colin's pick: Philadelphia -1.5
