Colin Cowherd Mocks Bill Belichick For Being an Out-of-Touch GM

Colin Cowherd: “Zeke, Cam Newton, Reggie Wayne, Ocho Cinco, Muhammad Sanu—Bill Belichick romanticizes football constantly. Unfortunately, he does it in personnel. We need an intervention here. If the coach and GM of the Patriots were two different people, in Boston they would demand the GM get fired. They’re a slow offense and this past Draft they drafted two kickers and three guards. Bill is constantly romanticizing the past. He should be a baseball manager; he can’t do personnel. Zeke is past his prime, Cam was past his prime, Chad Johnson was past his prime... He LOVED those guys yet won’t put his arms around Mac Jones. He’s become ‘close to retirement’ guy that becomes infatuated with classic cars. Unfortunately, we’re trying to win an F1 race here. There’s a place for ‘classic car guy.’ It’s not the Monaco Grand Prix, and that’s what the AFC is. You can be two things—a legend, and then over your skis as cultural changes happen. Belichick is completely tone deaf to offensive personnel, it’s BAD. The only Pro Bowler he’s had in recent years that he drafted was Mac Jones, and I swear to God, it’s almost like he’s trying to implode the situation-- he doesn’t want him [Mac Jones] to have too much power. Belichick has a baseball feel. He really loves the past, he romanticizes it, he has these players that he likes—it's like those guys have nothing left, it’s the end of their careers. If he would have loved them seven years ago when they weren't cheap... I’m not saying Zeke doesn’t have some value, but what they need isn't a running back who blocks, what they need is a home run hitter and they don’t have one. When you combine Zeke with DeVante Parker, Juju Smith-Schuster, Cam, Chad, Reggie Wayne, you feel like ‘we need an intervention here’, it’s just not good enough.” (Full Segment Above)

Watch Colin Cowherd mock New England Patriots head coach and general manager Bill Belichick for once again fielding one of the most impotent offenses in the NFL post-Tom Brady, as Colin thinks the Ezekiel Elliott signing is once again proof that Belichick the GM doesn’t know how to manifest offensive personnel in this era.

Check out the segment above as Colin says that Belichick needs to stop ‘romanticizing the past’ when it comes to big names who are past their primes, saying Zeke follows in the footsteps of players like Cam Newton, Reggie Wayne, and Chad Johnson, as washed up players the Patriots comically tried to give a face-lift to late in their careers.
