Chris Broussard: “I think the best option for Kevin Durant is Golden State. He gets the most money and we don’t know how exactly he’s going to come back from his injury. Worst case, if he’s Carmelo Anthony now and goes to New York maybe he can’t lead them to a championship and the PRESSURE would be on. If he stays in Golden State they’ll still have Steph and Klay and would still win championships. As we get further removed from these titles were just going to see KD as a four or five time champion. No one is going to look back 15 years from now saying ‘Well, he played on a stacked team and it was easy for him’."
Listen to NBA insider and co-host of The Odd Couple Chris Broussard join The Doug Gottlieb Show and explain why superstar free agent Kevin Durant should remain with the Golden State Warriors, as Durant has been reported to want to bolt the former NBA dynasty for either the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets.
Chris thinks KD is in a very precarious position if he leaves the mighty Warriors for an incompetent franchise like the Knicks. Chris wonders what would happen if KD never fully recovers from his Achilles injury and then is trapped in New York without future Hall of Famers Klay Thompson and Steph Curry.
Not only would staying in Golden State give him the opportunity to make the most money, but it also gives him the security of knowing he’ll always be on a championship team for the rest of his prime years, even if he’s never the same player he once was.
Check out the audio below as Chris says in 15-20 years, no one will look back at Durant’s career as the guy who ‘took the easy way out’ by spending half his career with Golden State.
