Five Reasons Why Miami Dolphins Have to Start Tua Tagovailoa in Week 1

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the Miami Dolphins are making a huge mistake if they don’t start former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season, as most still believe that Tagovailoa will start behind longtime veteran gunslinger Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Colin says there are five reason why rookie quarterbacks should start out of the blocks in the modern NFL compared to the days where rookies would almost always sit and watch an entire season from the bench while learning the system.

One – the rules now overwhelmingly favor the offenses. Two – the majority of head coach and assistants are young and more relatable to newcomers. Three – the NFL systems are nearly identical to college now. Four – the quarterbacks have gotten many more passing reps per season than any generation in history. Five – with rookie contracts a fraction of what they used to be teams can now afford to put more weapons around these first-year QBs.
