Colin Cowherd: Cam Newton Doesn't Make Patriots a Playoff Team

Super Bowl 50 - Carolina Panthers v Denver Broncos

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he doesn’t think the New England Patriots’ acquisition of Cam Newton makes them a playoff team, as New England’s bargain deal for the former NFL MVP was certainly the most talked about move of the entire offseason.

Colin was never much of a fan of de facto starter Jarrett Stidham, who still appears as the heavy favorite to be the team’s starter in Week 1, but a young player with an underwhelming reputation around the league. Colin doesn’t believe the move to acquire Newton painted a very bright picture for Stidham’s future as the unlucky replacement trying to fill the legendary shoes of Tom Brady.

Despite boasting one of the league’s most elite defenses and still anchored by arguably the greatest coach in NFL history, Bill Belichick, Colin has a hard time believing a punchless Patriots offense is going to be potent enough to assist Newton on a run to the playoffs.

Check out the video below as Colin details why he doesn’t see the Patriots finishing any better than 8-8 or 9-7, and how he’s not predicting New England to make the playoffs.
