Jason Whitlock: Not Punishing Montrezl Harrell is a Huge Double-Standard

Clay Travis: “The NBA set the precedent 9 years ago -- when Kobe Bryant was on the bench and said a gay slur to an official they fined Kobe and it turned into a big deal… The NBA is clearly in the ‘EQUALITY’ business and they’re in the Social Justice Warrior business, so isn’t Adam Silver just further being a hypocrite by not commenting or taking any action at all based on what Montrezl Harrell said?”
Jason Whitlock: “The hypocrisy as it relates to race has always been a part of the NBA, and always been a part of the mainstream media. The LGBT community is very loud and very powerful, and there would have been severe repercussions if no action was taken as it relates to Kobe Bryant. As it relates to white men and mistreating them in the NBA or in professional sports there isn’t a loud special interest group representing them, and there won’t be media repercussions… There is a black privilege that the media and sports allow that there are no racial connotations and you can have lapses in judgement without smearing your character. It’s like the media and black people have bought into a myth or idea that white people are incapable of incompetence, lack of judgment, and poor decision making, and anything they do you can directly attribute to racism – it can’t just be that the cop who shoved Masai Ujiri is incompetent and has bad decision-making, the only reason why he did it is Masai Ujiri is black. There’s no evidence and no proof of that. What he did was wrong, and he needs to be punished, but it might just be incompetence and not racism.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Jason Whitlock and Clay Travis explain why they think it was hypocritical for Adam Silver and the NBA to pass on punishing Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell for his ‘b**** a** white boy’ comments towards Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, as both Whitlock and Travis think the repercussions would have been catastrophic if the roles had been reversed.

Check out the full segment above as Whitlock details why he thinks the NBA and sports media alike have always operated on glaring double-standards when it comes to race.
