Giannis is still just 25 years old, but this is his seventh full season in the NBA, and he’s still never appeared in an NBA Finals. Giannis’ playoff tenure has included a first round exit in 2015, a first round exit in 2017, a first round exit in 2018, and a conference finals loss in 2019 as the number one seed. Milwaukee finished 2020 with the league’s best record, and at one point were on pace for one of the most statistically dominating seasons of all time.
Two games into the second round and we’re already wondering what the heck has happened to Milwaukee, and wondering if we need to re-establish our opinions of Giannis being regarded as the league’s most valuable player.
Last year Giannis was badly outplayed by Kawhi Leonard’s Raptors in the East Finals, as Giannis averaged just 22.7 points on .448 shooting during the six games, compared to his 27.7 points on .578 shooting that regular season.
