Listen to NFL Vegas sharps RJ Bell and Steve Fezzik join co-host Jonas Knox on ‘Straight Outta Vegas’ to preview the number one ranked team on their 2020 win/total prediction rankings, the Kansas City Chiefs.
The first thing you always want to discuss when a young team wins the Super Bowl is if can they get back to the Super Bowl, and can they potentially start a dynasty.
Surprisingly, this never became much of a trend during a 2000’s and 2010’s eras that were absolutely dominated by Hall of Famers Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Ben Roethlisberger.
The early-00’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers never won more than one with their dominant defenses featuring Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Warren Sapp, and John Lynch, the 2010’s Packers never won more than one with Aaron Rodgers pairing with Mike McCarthy in the prime of Rodgers' career, and the ‘Legion of Boom’ Seattle Seahawks with Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, and Richard Sherman surrounding Russell Wilson couldn’t win a second Super Bowl either.
Can Patrick Mahomes go on a decade-long run with 62-year-old Andy Reid leading into retirement?
It sure seems like it could definitely continue in 2020 with the team bringing back 18 of their 22 starters from last season’s title team, as they look to become the first team since the 2004 Patriots to repeat as Champions.
Their key acquisitions included running back DeAndre Washington from the Raiders, tight end Ricky Seals-Jones from the Cardinals, offensive tackle Mike Remmers from the Giants, guard Kelechi Osemele from the Jets, defensive end Taco Charlton from the Dolphins, and drafted LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Notable losses included LeSean McCoy, Cameron Erving, Stefen Wisniewski, Emmanuel Ogbah, Reggie Ragland, Kendall Fuller, and Dustin Colquitt.
Their over/under for wins is 11.5, their odds to win the Super Bowl are 9/2, their odds to win the AFC are 2/1, their odds to win the AFC West are 1/4, and they’re -850 to make the playoffs.
