Colin Cowherd: Bill Belichick and Patriots Were Never Trying to Win in 2020

Colin Cowherd: “Bill Belichick is too smart to want to be 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7 for the next five years. This is why I predicted them to go 5-11. Belichick is ‘Rebooting’, and he’s going to be very coy. He doesn’t want people to think he’s doing this, so he’s doing things that he’s never done before. Complimenting Cam Newton constantly, giving the appearance that they are ‘FIGHTING FOR WINS!’ , and then adds a couple irrelevant players at the trading deadline and not selling everybody off. He’s giving the appearance that ‘this is no restructuring; we’re going all the way!’… When people start doing things that they’ve never done, be suspicious. Suggesting to player to opt-out, adding irrelevant players at the Deadline, Cam Newton compliments now constantly after never giving Brady a compliment in 20 years, didn’t try to re-sign anybody, talking about cap stuff that he’s never talked about EVER, midseason press conferences… Brady is gone and this is a rebuild year. You’ve got three A+ quarterback prospects.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots haven’t been trying to contend this season, and why he believes Belichick is discretely pulling off a ‘franchise reboot’ that is designed around drafting a quarterback high in the first round in 2021.

Check out the video above as Colin details why he believes Belichick is too smart to simply try and go 7-9 or 8-8 the next five years with this flawed roster.
