Rob Manfred Not Punishing Justin Turner For COVID-19 Fallout Was Spineless

Rob Manfred Not Punishing Justin Turner For COVID-19 Fallout Was Spineless
Jason Smith: “Let just dump it on Friday that Justin Turner is going to face zero discipline for his return to the field with no mask on after a positive COVID test, and hanging out with his teammates after the World Series… I’ll take the loss on this because I said it was going to be 50 games. I thought baseball would stand up and say ‘we have to make sure people are doing the right thing for COVID-19’, but instead, Rob Manfred decides ‘no punishment’ for a guy who willfully went back out onto the field and was near other people with his mask off… He’s a public figure and he’s facing NO punishment. This despite the fact that Major League Baseball told him TWICE not to go back out on the field. I don’t get Rob Manfred. He is just spineless sometimes and has got no backbone. He’s like a jellyfish. I can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m really disappointed. It’s embarrassing for baseball… He’s a jellyfish commissioner, and he makes Adam Silver look like David Stern or Roger Goodell… I didn’t have a lot of respect for Manfred anyway, it’s kind of eroded the past few months, but now it’s at the lowest favorability I’ve had with Manfred.” (Full Audio Above)

Listen to Jason Smith blast Major League Baseball and Commissioner Rob Manfred for not suspending Dodgers player Justin Turner for breaking COVID-19 protocols after celebrating with his teammates on the field following their World Series victory despite having just heard less than hour before that he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Check out the audio above as Smith details why he thinks Manfred was a ‘spineless’ for not dropping the hammer on Turner, as Jason had predicted that Turner’s suspension would be around 50 games.
