Listen to Clay Travis explain why he believes there is a chance that 42-year-old Drew Brees could not only stave off retirement and play in 2021, but why he thinks Brees could leave the Saints and actually take his talents to another franchisee who thinks they’re a quarterback away from winning the Super Bowl like the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers were before they signed Tom Brady.
Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported before the Saints vs. Bucs NFC Divisional Round Game that Brees was going to retire at season’s end, but the odd silence this offseason coupled with posts to social media showing Brees emphatically working out is leading people to believe that Brees hasn’t quit football just yet.
Brees still has one more year left on his deal and had elected to take his salary all the way down the veterans minimum, in a move that most figured was paving the way to the beginning of his broadcasting career.
Check out the audio above as Clay details why he thinks teams like the 49ers, Bears, Broncos, Dolphins, Washington Football Team, or even the New England Patriots could make a play for the future Hall of Famer in pursuit for a Super Bowl.
