Colin Cowherd: “One year ago Jim Harbaugh and the Vikings had this little dalliance, but Minnesota and the Colts are totally different jobs. The Vikings had a veteran-capable quarterback, star receiver, non-meddling owner, Aaron Rodgers aging in-division, and the Lions and Bears are historically dysfunctional. Indianapolis is not a good job. They’re a mess at quarterback, the roster has multiple holes, they have an impulsive, meddling owner... that’s not interesting. Jim Harbaugh has to be picky. When Jim Harbaugh was in the NFL eight years ago, you could get to the Super Bowl with an average quarterback; he did with Colin Kaepernick. Some would say he was below average. That’s not the league anymore. Rules lean heavy offense, you’ve got to have a ‘B+’ to an ‘A’ quarterback to really be special in this league. The idea that the NFL is just a better place to be a coach? There are 4-5 jobs in college football that are great— Michigan, Texas, USC, Georgia, are great jobs. You can dominate recruiting and live in a cool town. Seven or eight college football spots are better than an NFL job. Indianapolis is a BAD job. You got an owner who got rid of a coach [Frank Reich], got rid of Carson Wentz after 27 touchdowns and 7 picks, how long is the GM Chris Ballard there? It used to be that you always gave a guy two years… David Culley got a year, Freddie Kitchens got a year, Steve Wilks got a year, Lovie Smith I think is going to get one year, Nathaniel Hackett is going to get a year. These owners will move off you in a year if you don’t get it right, $35 million to them is just a rounding error. Michigan is a better job than any NFL job except one with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and maybe one with Justin Herbert.” (Full Video Above)
Watch Colin Cowherd explain why he doesn’t see Jim Harbaugh leaving Michigan to the take the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job, despite Harbaugh’s Midwestern roots and having spent four seasons with the Colts franchise in the mid-90’s.
Check out the segment above as Colin details why he thinks Michigan is a better job than any NFL job besides a franchise that boasted superhuman quarterback talents like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, or Justin Herbert.
