A projected first-round 2024 NFL Draft prospect was arrested over the weekend.
Former Texas Longhorns defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat was arrested in Austin and charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor, on Sunday (April 7) afternoon, KXAN reported, citing Travis County Jail records. Sweat, 22, was reportedly booked into jail at 2:12 p.m. and a video shared by KXAN sports reporter Noah Gross showed him exiting the facility at around 4:09 p.m. after posting a $3,000 bond.
Sweat was spotted alongside his attorney with a towel or shirt over his head to cover his face while leaving jail and refused to answer any questions.
Sweat, the younger brother of former Pro Bowl Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat, isn't expected to face discipline from the NFL, however, the arrest could have a negative affect on his draft stock. The former Texas standout ranked as a top 10 defensive lineman prospect and projected to be selected in the first- or second-round of the 2024 NFL Draft later this month prior to his arrest.
Sweat was a unanimous All-American, the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and the winner of the Outland Trophy, rewarded to college football's best interior lineman, during his final collegiate season, recording a career-best 45 tackles, two sacks and eight tackles for loss.
