Jared Goff and Lions Agree to Record-Setting Extension

The Detroit Lions and quarterback Jared Goff have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $212 million extension, which will include $170 million guaranteed and make him the highest-paid player in franchise history, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday (May 13).

"Another done deal in Detroit: Lions are signing QB Jared Goff to a four-year, $212 million contract extension that includes $170 million guaranteed, sources tell ESPN. Goff now goes from former No. 1 overall pick to highest-paid Lion in franchise history," Schefter wrote on his X account.

Goff threw for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 405 of 605 passing in 2023, leading the Lions to an NFC North Division title for the first time since realignment -- having last won the NFC Central Division title in 1993 -- and two playoff wins for first time in a single postseason since 1957.
