Jason Whitlock: WNBA 'Corruption' May Cost Caitlin Clark Rookie of the Year

Watch Jason Whitlock of Blaze TV’s Fearless discuss the tightening Rookie of the Year Award race between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, as Whitlock believes there could be clandestine layers of ‘cheating’ and ‘corruption’ within the WNBA to prevent the polarizing Clark from winning the award.

Whitlock called out ‘gimmick’ Reese on her recent ‘stat-padding’ to continue her double-double streak, saying he thinks collusion may have played a part in the controversial sequence of events in the final seconds of that game versus the Atlanta Dream to allow Reese get her 10th point and secure a double-double.

With 12 seconds remaining in the game, Reese's Chicago Sky led the Atlanta Dream 76-69. Reese, who was going for her 14th consecutive double-double -- the most in WNBA history, was stuck on 9 points and 13 rebounds. Instead of in-bounding the ball and letting the clock run out, the Sky ran a play to get Reese the ball on the blocks with under 8 seconds to play. Reese was immediately fouled and she would connect on both free throws to push her total to 11 points and continue her streak of double-doubles.

Check out the segment below as Whitlock details how the WNBA is 'ripe for corruption' when it comes to a statistical record like Reese's that would in-turn hurt Clark's chances at winning the Rookie of the Year.

Jason Whitlock: “If you listen closely, you can hear the WNBA ‘Rookie of the Year’ vote getting closer and closer by any means necessary. The Chicago Sky were up seven points, 12 seconds to play, they’re getting the ball and feeding the ball to Angel Reese because she’s been in foul trouble most of the game, and she’s only got nine points and 13 rebounds... This was Brett Favre giving Michael Strahan the sack record. This is actually worse because this is such a gimmick. This is such a gimmick going on with the double-double streak and Angel Reese. The refs are in on it, the WNBA is in on it, her teammates are in on it... This whole thing needs to be questioned because gambling is potentially influencing what’s going on here with Angel Reese. Everybody is in on it. This double-double thing can easily be controlled by the players on the court. Angel Reese is going to get her 10 rebounds. She’s going to get that with effort. But padding her offensive stats? This is the second time they’ve done it in five games.
I don’t care about the upcoming Olympics -- what I care about is this feud between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. I believe much of it is inauthentic. Much of it is just the Marxists/ Leftists/race idolaters propping up Angel Reese, but they’ve propped her up to a point that we go to start taking this Rookie of the Year conversation seriously. In a league and in a media environment where social media narratives and the race idolators have control of the narrative, you have to remember who’s actually going to vote on Rookie of the Year... Sportswriters. Not sports fans, not people with a pair of balls willing to stand up to the race idolaters, it’s going to be sportswriters. It will be very interesting to see how many of them fold and go ‘OH, MAN, IF I DON’T VOTE FOR ANGEL REESE, I’M RACIST!’... I know what the Vegas odds say but they’re turning this into quite a little competition. Just crack that door a little more for Angel Reese to slip in there. The entire WNBA is in on this Angel Reese gimmick.
The Chicago Sky were at home playing a terrible team, the Atlanta Dream. They’re up seven points with 12 seconds to play. That means the shot clock is turned off. They’re up three possessions... That means in 99.9% of the games you in-bound the ball, hold the ball, the clock runs out, and the other team doesn’t even defend you. Instead, they’re in-bounding the ball, Angel Reese has her hands up, she’s posted up over the middle, and they’re running a play just to get her a bucket. When I watched this clip, the ref seems to be in on it because that whistle seemed real quick to me. When it’s a three-possession game with 12 seconds to play, the refs just wanna go home too. You don’t have to call that foul, nor do you have to commit that foul. That’s why I’m saying everybody is in on it. The racial idolatry -- do you see people bending over backwards to help Caitlin Clark? That was the Atlanta Dream bending over backwards. ‘HEY, THIS GIRL NEEDS A BUCKET, LET ME ELBOW HER IN THE BACK, GIVE THE REF THE OPPORTUNITY TO CALL SOME SILLY FOUL, AND EVERYBODY CAN CELEBRATE THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE STREAK CONTINUING.’... You have a horrible recipe as it relates to the WNBA and gambling. The players feel like they’re underpaid. You know what happens when you feel like you’re not getting what you deserve? You become entitled, you have an entitled mindset, and you start looking for ways to circumvent the rules to get what you think you’re owed.
Because of Caitlin Clark there’s all this intense interest in the WNBA, and gambling in the WNBA has risen. Betting on, or providing information to someone in the WNBA in a league where the players feel like they’re underpaid – you couldn’t create a better recipe for cheating and for fraud. For someone on either team or on both teams... Or among that fan base that’s screaming and yelling ‘GET HER THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!’... Broadcasters, referees, ANYBODY could have money on the game. It’ll never be talked about and never be discussed but it’s reality. I guarantee you the referees in the WNBA feel like they’re underpaid. We know every player on the court feels like they’re underpaid. It’s a recipe for cheating and corruption. This league is ripe for corruption."
