Why the Seahawks Are Officially Finished With Pete Carroll

Colin Cowherd: “I’ve been saying for several years that the Seahawks are a house of cards. What do they do well besides anything connected to Russell Wilson? The Pete Carroll/Russell Wilson relationship, it’s time to move on. Seventy-year-old coach or star quarterback, you tell me who wins? I’m not anti-Pete or trying to be pro-Russell, but last night they had one rushing first down, 34 rushing yards, and 18 minutes of possession. That’s what happens when you have for the fifth year in a row -- bad offensive line, second-tier running backs, a bad secondary, you’ve whiffed on all but about three draft picks in the last four drafts, and you’ve made weird trades where you traded a safety, a third-round pick, and two firsts for a safety. Big changes are coming, they’re inevitable, and you know which side ownership will take. Pete was fired twice and was losing in Seattle before Russell. I trust that Russell Wilson can get healthy and back on track more than Seattle’s outdated schemes can get figured out. If you look in the NFL this morning, an offense coach leads the NFC East, Mike McCarthy. An offensive coach leads the NFC North, Matt LaFleur. An offensive coach leads the NFC South, Bruce Arians. An offensive coach leads the NFC West, Kliff Kingsbury. An offensive coach leads the AFC West, Andy Reid. The surprise team in the NFL, Cincinnati, is led by an offensive coach Zac Taylor. The most surging team in the NFL, San Francisco, is led by an offensive coach, Kyle Shanahan. THAT’s the new reality. Pete is going to be a Hall of Famer, but you’ve got a choice here – a star quarterback or an older coach with outdated current schemes? It’s inevitable, even the great relationships that win titles – Brady and Belichick, Shaq and Kobe, Jordan and Pippen – they don’t last forever.” (Full Video Above)
