Ben Maller: “The Padres front office are looking like country bumpkins on this one when they couldn’t even get to year 7 or 8 of the contract before this happened. They got a year and that was it. One year of Tatis and now this? They gave him 14 years and $300 million, and he’s signed through the 2034 season. We will have three more Presidential elections before he’s off the books in San Diego. Most kids start kindergarten around age 5, so those who did in 2021 will have high school diplomas by the time Tatis’ contract comes to an end. He went from the biggest young star in baseball, to baseball’s tarnished dope just like that. That contract is looking more and more like the baseball version of Voyager Digital. Tatis’ contract was unregulated and appears to be an unsustainable fraud based on what we know now. Tatis said he inadvertently took a performance-enhancing drug to treat ringworm. I hope you were laughing like we were when you heard that. That excuse was done for the dingbats, and Tatis and people around Tatis know that one in five people are completely gullible, and they will believe anything. Twenty percent of us are complete morons when it comes to believing anything, so when you say you didn’t mean to take steroids and you had ringworm, they will swallow it hook, line, and sinker. The rest of us are in the corner rolling our eyes laughing thinking this is really stupid. From what we know, the drug Tatis took, Clostebol, is NEVER prescribed for skin defects or ringworm. There is a drug that is close to it but that’s not the same drug. What they’re trying to do is muddy the waters, and some people won’t really check up on it, but it’s not flying in these parts. Tatis was suspended 80 games for doing a schedule-4 anabolic steroid, that's it and that’s all you need to know. If this was an honest mistake and Tatis did get something from a doctor, then there would have been a digital paper trail. If he had a legitimate excuse there would have been evidence via a prescription from a doctor. You don’t get that particular steroid without a doctor prescribing it unless you buy it at a shady pharmacy in Tijuana. To buy what Tatis is selling is a special kind of mameluke. He is now the Quasimodo and the hunchback of Notre Dame in baseball. He has been given a lifetime supply of cooties and he can’t get rid of them. Is Tatis legit? What if he’s been doing this all along and he finally got caught? Is it possible that Tatis is a total fraud? Is he just a product of PEDs and he was able to hornswoggle the Padres?" Listen to Ben Maller of Fox Sports Radio mock Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres after Tatis Jr. was suspended 80 games for using performance-enhancing drugs.
Check out the segment above as Maller scoffs at the Padres for being locked into a 14-year deal with a guy who is now forever branded as a cheater, and a player who could have potentially earned stardom only because of his usage of steroids.
