Rob Parker: “We saw Teddy Bridgewater take that team and go 5-0 and we saw them not miss a step when Drew Brees was down and out. You have Teddy Bridgewater there and can make the transition seamless. He already knows the offense and knows the personnel. He’s better than Brees right now. The Saints need to hold onto him and make it happen. I’m sorry, I would rather have Teddy Bridgewater moving forward.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)
Listen to Rob Parker explain why he thinks the New Orleans Saints should let beloved quarterback Drew Brees walk this offseason, and replace their Super Bowl winning savior with veteran backup Teddy Bridgewater, who will hit free agency next month as one of the most intriguing names of the offseason.
Bridgewater resurrected his career in New Orleans last season, when he went 5-0 filling in for an injured Brees, and posted a 99.1 passer rating with 9 touchdowns compared to just 2 interceptions in five starts.
Rob doesn’t understand why the Saints would just automatically commit to a 41-year-old Brees short-term, when they have a chance to sign a 27-year-old Bridgewater to a long-term deal, as a guy who has already proven he can excel in Sean Payton's offense.
