Colin Cowherd: Cam Newton is an Untouchable Free Agent

Colin Cowherd: “Cam Newton is Carmelo Anthony. Everyone says they love him but when it gets down to it NOBODY wants to play with him… The media has coddled him and Carolina was very protective of him. I hear all this ‘WE LOVE CAM!’ Well, the Chargers could have had him, Bears could have had him, Carolina could have kept him, Ron Rivera could have had him… NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE. You think Cam couldn't have won more in Washington than Dwayne Haskins?? Cam had one great year and he’s average.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd discuss the Carolina Panthers’ release of former MVP Cam Newton, as the team is further moving away from the Ron Rivera era with former Baylor head coach Matt Rhule completely revamping the roster from top to bottom.

Colin has never been a huge supporter of Newton, saying Newton’s MVP season of 2015 was a fluke, and besides the perfect storm dream season the year he led Carolina to the Super Bowl, Newton’s career has been drowning in mediocrity.

Interest in Newton had been surprisingly lukewarm all off-season, as the team at one point was reportedly trying to trade the 30-year-old.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Newton is the NFL’s version of Carmelo Anthony, as one of the league’s most talked about and prominent players, but a guy who really nobody wants as their quarterback.
