Colin Cowherd: “I don’t wanna hear about Michael Thomas not being there for Drew Brees, Justin Herbert is a ROOKIE and didn’t have his starting right tackle, his starting right guard, his starting running back, and his best receiver, Keenan Allen, who got hurt at the end of the first quarter. He went on the road against Drew Brees and was the better quarterback and it wasn’t even close. You can do so much more with Justin Herbert than you can with Drew Brees. They can move the pocket out, he’s got a rocket arm, you can throw it deep or short, it doesn’t matter. The question now is can the Chargers screw it up? Where you land matters and the Chargers have a good GM and a lot of talent. He’s led Mahomes, Brady, and Brees in the fourth quarter the last three games, and then they can’t make a kick, and then comes conservative play-calling. This kid is a rockstar, but this organization historically has gone cheap. Justin Herbert is WOW, and the only other quarterbacks in the league with this talent, this arm, and this escapability are Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen. And Mahomes got to sit behind Alex Smith for a year, and Josh Allen was awful his first year and a half in the league. This kid is great NOW. Will the Chargers go out and pay $10 million for Lincoln Riley or Urban Meyer? Not some retread coach like the Cowboys got. Will you go out and spend BIG BOY money to go out and get a John Harbaugh or a rockstar head coach? We know in this league if you give Lamar Jackson John Harbaugh we know how it turns out… REALLY GOOD.” (Full Segment Above)
Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks Chargers rookie Justin Herbert is the NFL’s next great star quarterback, as Colin says only Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen have the same levels of arm strength and escability.
Check out the segment above as Colin details why he’s worried that a historically incompetent franchise like the Chargers might screw this whole thing up, and cost Herbert a special career.
