Colin Cowherd: “I always wanted a clear ending to my career like an Elway, a Jeter, or a Johnny Carson, where I have a great last show, and then I’m done. I don’t wanna be doing Winnebago commercials, or selling cleaners, or duct tape on TV. It’s not a shot at people who have, but I tend to be a minimalist in life. I like clean endings, and I look at Brady and think to myself ‘I wish he would have retired.’ It just would have been so clean. I get it, you live in a tunnel, you’re walking and talking commerce, people talk you into it, but I look at it right now and think wouldn’t it have just been better if he just wrapped it up and said ‘tip of the cap, I’m going to go run my global business now’? It feels like there’s so many ugly stories every five days about Brady.”
Doug Gottlieb: “He wouldn’t be Tom Brady if he didn’t believe in himself and believe that he had super powers. I’m sure his wife wanted him to retire years ago, and you just fight it because never again in your life are you going to have 10 eyes on you, and 52 other guys depending on you to lead a team to the Super Bowl. If you win 7, you pass Jordan, and you’re the modern day GOAT of ALL sports, so you get greedy with it.” (Full Segment Above)
Listen to Doug Gottlieb and Colin Cowherd debate ‘The Great Tampa Bay Buccaneers Experiment of 2020', and whether or not they believe Tom Brady made the right decision to sign a 2-year contract with the Bucs at the age of 43.
Check out the video above as Colin says that he ‘wishes that Brady retired last season’, where Gottlieb says the idea of ’overcoming the odds’ is literally what Brady has done his entire career, and a huge reason he's been so successful.
