Colts Owner Jim Irsay Speaks About Philip Rivers' Future with the Colts

Listen to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay join The Rich Eisen Show to discuss Philip Rivers’ future with the team, as the 39-year-old signed a one-year deal for $25 million with Indy back in March.

The Colts are still dealing with the hangover of Andrew Luck’s retirement and were coming off a 2019 season in which Jacoby Brissett threw just 18 touchdowns in 15 starts, and averaged only 196.1 passer yards per game.

Rivers is on pace for 4,316 yards and 25 touchdowns, but he also ranks 4th in passing yards after the catch for a Colts offense that doesn’t rely on Rivers to do that much, or throw the ball down the field that often.

Rivers has only been sacked 13 times in 13 starts behind arguably the league’s best offensive line. The Colts sit at 9-4 on the season and are tied for first place in the AFC South with the Titans, but Rivers’ future with the team past this year is quite convoluted given Rivers’ natural desire to hang up, and the team believing they can get a more dynamic quarterback and potentially beat Kansas City every year.
