Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer addressed rumors of a potential candidacy for the University of Southern California football program's head coaching vacancy on Wednesday.
"There’s no chance," Meyer told reporters via ESPN's Adam Schefter. "I’m here and committed to trying to build this organization.”
USC announced the termination of former head coach Clay Helton, citing "expectations would not be met without a change in leadership," on Monday via ESPN.
Meyer, who was hired by Jacksonville in January, has only coached one NFL game, but given his history at the collegiate level, as well as being tied to past vacancies at major programs, would've been unable to avoid the question when facing the media this week.
So far, Meyer has a 0-1 record as an NFL head coach coming off a 37-21 blowout road loss to the Houston Texans in Week 1.
Meyer has a 187-32 overall record as a collegiate head coach and three national championships, which includes two at the University of Florida (2006, 2008) and one at the Ohio State University (2014), where he finished with an 83-9 record during seven seasons.
Meyer is also credited for turning around the football programs at Bowling Green (2001-02) and Utah (2003-04), which included a combined 39-8 overall record during his first four seasons as a head coach.
