The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans appears to have caught on fire.

Multiple videos were shared on social media showing the New Orleans Saints' home stadium with what appears to be black smoke coming from its domed roof on Tuesday (September 21) afternoon.

FOX 8reports New Orleans Fire Department was responding to the scene.

Doug Thornton, the Vice President of stadiums for ASM Global, which manages the Caesars Superdome, told NOLA.com's Jeff Duncan the fire was started "in the gutter tub" on the dome's roof as workers were pressure washing it and is now "under control."

The Saints' 2021 NFL season home opener was moved to TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville on September 12 amid the devastation of Hurricane Ida in New Orleans. The Saints then faced the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte last Sunday (September 19).

“It is never easy to make a decision that involves not playing a Saints home game in the Caesars Superdome, but I am confident that this is the right decision for our city at this juncture," Saints owner Gayle Benson said in a statement obtained by NOLA.com amid the team's decision earlier this month. "Collectively, we have a monumental task ahead of us in cleaning up the after-effects left by Hurricane Ida, but it has been inspiring to see people getting right to work and starting the process."

The Saints -- who will face the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Sunday (September 26) -- are scheduled to play their first game of the 2021 season at Caesars Superdome during their October 3 matchup against the New York Giants, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced earlier this month via CBS Sports.

The Caesars Superdome didn't suffer any structural damage during Hurricane Ida, but widespread power outages were still reported throughout the city of New Orleans and the city's Sewerage and Water Board urged residents to reduce their water consumption leading up to the Saints' season opener on September 12.
