The Kansas City Chiefs said that head coach Andy Reid is in stable condition after being hospitalized following his team's 30-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
"Head Coach Andy Reid felt ill at the conclusion of the game. He was evaluated by our medical staff in the locker room, & as a precaution, was transported to The University of Kansas Health System for further evaluation. Coach is doing well, currently resting & in stable condition," the team said in a statement on Twitter.
Reid, who is 63-years-old, addressed the Chiefs after the loss but then skipped his postgame press conference to go to the University of Kansas Health System because he felt ill. He was in good spirits when he left Arrowhead Stadium in an ambulance and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, Reid was suffering from dehydration and is expected to be fine.
The Chiefs did not say what his status is for their week 4 matchup against Reid's former team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Chiefs are off to their worst start in several seasons and are currently sitting in last place in the AFC West with a 1-2 record.
