Colin Cowherd Makes His Pick For NBA MVP

Colin Cowherd: “The biggest word we fight over is ‘valuable’. We confuse it with ‘great.’ Giannis, Jokic, or Embiid are the MVP, but in this case it’s Giannis because when LeBron was dominating the league I kept saying ‘how does he not win MVP every year?’ LeBron was the GM, and he’s the coach offensively and defensively. There wasn’t even an argument, LeBron was the most ‘VALUABLE’ player in the league, and we’re not getting into this with Giannis. I know you guys LOVE the triple-double so Giannis can’t be MVP because he was 4 assists short vs. the 76ers the other night! C’mon man, it’s not ‘Most Statistically Amazing’, triple-doubles are nonsense. They don’t lead to wins, blocks do, dominating on both ends does, dominating in the fourth quarter does. This is not a referendum on Ja Morant, but he’s not going to dominate on the defensive end. Don’t confuse ‘great highlights’ with ‘MVP’. Don’t confuse ‘cool stats’ with ‘MVP’. Giannis, like LeBron was, is the most valuable player in the league. He’s the best defender, he’s the most athletic, he’s the longest, thank God he’s the most grateful and humble. Stop looking at triple-doubles, he’s the best second-half scorer in the NBA, 16 points per game. He’s the best ‘clutch’ player in the NBA. He’s 54% from the floor in clutch time (points scored when the score is within five points in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime). If you want STATS, give me those end of the game stats. Another part of his value is that he’s never hurt and he’s always available. This dude, and that frame, he’s never hurt. In the games Giannis has missed the Bucks are are sub-.500. Think about that, the NBA champs aren’t even a .500 team without Giannis. The Grizzlies are 18-2 without Ja. Don’t confuse ‘stats’, ‘highlights’, ‘cool’, and ‘great’ with ‘valuable.’ (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he would pick Giannis Antetokounmpo as his choice to win the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award, in a three-man race between Giannis, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic which could result in the closest vote in league history.
