Major League Baseball has issued a one-game suspension and undisclosed fine to New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson for what the league calls "inappropriate comments" to Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson during Saturday's game.
White Sox manager Tony La Russa after the game that Donaldson had made a racist comment. Anderson told reporters Saturday that Donaldson, called him "Jackie" (Robinson) in a disrespectful way multiple times during the game.
One player that decided to respond to MLB's ruling was former Dodgers reliever, Joe Kelly. Kelly was doing a radio interview when the news broke and this is what he had to say:
"I got 8 games for making a silly face."
Back in July of 2020, Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly received an eight-game suspension for throwing towards Alex Bregman and taunting Carlos Correa, while LA manager Dave Roberts was suspended for one game.
Donaldson will appeal his suspension according to Major League Baseball.
