Colin Cowherd: “It’s been 19 years since we’ve had a repeat champion, that was back in ’03-’04 with the New England Patriots. There’s a reason the Patriots repeated and why they were good year after year… Belichick, Brady, and brains without much ego. I do think the Rams have a strong chance to repeat. The NFC is not as good as the AFC, and they are the most talented and most well-run operation in the NFC. I’m not sure they stack up against some of the AFC teams, but again, I think it’s McVay, Stafford, and brains without a lot of ego. Aaron Donald is the best defensive player in 20 years, you don’t see a lot of ego. Les Snead, Sean McVay… you don’t get a lot of ego. That matters because the NFL is so much more popular than every other sport in America. When you win a Super Bowl everyone becomes a rock star, everybody gets a book deal, a car deal, you know the name of their linebackers, and interior linemen… we’ve seen time and time again. For the Eagles, ego got in the way. They won and everybody got a book deal, and they started lecturing the Patriots on how to win, that was always good for a laugh. The Seahawks blew out Peyton Manning, guys like me said ‘that’s the best team I’ve seen in 20 years, they’re unbelievable', but they weren’t humble and ego got in the way. The Buccaneers won a Super Bowl with Brady and EVERYBODY got paid. Even Brady acknowledged last year that the team wasn’t as focused. The key in this is 'can you win the Super Bowl and be humbled and criticized at the same time?' When the Patriots won early they said Brady was a ‘system quarterback’. How do the Rams get humbled? I saw this today, Pro Football Focus didn’t rank Matthew Stafford in the list of the irtop 50 NFL players. On the same day, Mike Sando of The Athletic did his ‘NFL tiers’ and didn’t have Stafford in Tier 1. Stafford is reading that, his coaches are reading that, his teammates are reading that and they’re thinking ‘he’s not the best quarterback in SoFi stadium??’” (Full Segment Above)
