Pretty good… Not buttoned up to win a Super Bowl, but pretty good. Always have good players, always have a good structure – last year they had a lot of turbulence and they were 9-7-1. They draft well, they organize well, they develop well, they teach well, but they have not won a playoff game in six years. They have not beaten an elite quarterback in a playoff game in 12 years, and by ‘elite’, I mean I’m saying… Joe Flacco…? Steelers fans, however, demand that you respect them like it’s the 70s. Since the Steelers lost the Super Bowl to Green Bay – that was a long time ago – they have one playoff win over a starting quarterback [discounting win over Matt Moore and the Dolphins in 2017]. I’m not in Pittsburgh regularly but do they still think Eddie Murphy is the top billing comedian and are they still quoting ‘Back to the Future’? I don’t understand it, you can’t demand 1970s respect and Big Ben’s best years respect, when I’ve been watching this thing for the last 8-10 years. You do not beat star quarterbacks in playoff games. You don’t beat STARTING quarterbacks in playoff games. Once again this year I think they’ll be ‘pretty good.’ In an offensive-leaning league they are 31st in offensive spending, and have Mitch Trubisky and a rookie [Kenny Pickett]. All things considered, they’ll be about 9-7-1. I know, I’ll get HUGE pushback on that opinion. Once again they’ll be ‘pretty good’, won’t win a Super Bowl, and won’t beat elite quarterbacks in the playoffs.” (Full Video Above)
Watch Colin Cowherd mock Steelers fans for acting like they’re still one of the elite franchises of the NFL every year and a perennial Super Bowl contender when in reality they’re simply a 9-7-ish middling team every season who never beats elite quarterbacks in the postseason anymore.
