Jason Whitlock: “The narrative on Westbrook is bigger than just a dark time in the Lakers era. I think he's the embodiment of how they have perverted the game and the stat-padding that's going on with all of these guys in the NBA. Everybody is scoring more points, everybody looks [good]. He's the king of stat-padding. This isn't an argument that he wasn't a great player, but it's an argument he's the most overvalued player in the history of the NBA. The guy won an MVP and anybody looking in the rearview mirror has to regret that. He was never the Most Valuable Player in the league, he was a guy that stuffed his stats and put together consecutive triple-double seasons because the game had changed that much. Russell Westbrook, very good player, I'm not going to complain when he makes the Hall of Fame because everybody makes the Hall of Fame in basketball, but I don't think he's one of the top 75 players in the league of all time.” (Full Segment Above)
Watch Jason Whitlock and Steve Kim of ‘Fearless’ discuss the deteriorating NBA career of Russell Westbrook, as both Whitlock and Kim think Westbrook will go down as the biggest ‘stat-padder’ in league history.
Westbrook was seemingly thrown under the bus by Los Angeles at the trade deadline, with the comatose Lakers not even in position to make the play-in round, and it's still unclear if Westbrook will play again this season with the Utah Jazz still unsure of a buyout scenario with the former MVP.
Watch the segment above as Whitlock goes so far to call Westbrook the most ‘overvalued NBA player ever', and someone who shouldn’t have been included in the league’s ‘Top 75’ players of all time ceremony that was recognized last season at the NBA All-Star Game.
