Colin Cowherd: âYou really gotta think about this â put your pom-poms down in Chicago â and thatâs moving off Justin Fields. Hereâs why⌠In two years heâs been BAD and BAD. âWELL, THE OFFENSIVE LINE!â⌠No, itâs actually rated 14th in the NFL. Burrowâs was rated significantly worse this year. In two years Fields completed 59%, has a passer rating under 80, 24 TDs and 21 picks, itâs BAD. Justin Herbertâs first year in the league his offensive line was rated dead last in the league, his coach was uncreative and got fired, and he put up huge numbers. Herbertâs offensive line was significantly worse as a rookie than the Bearsâ this year. Andrew Luckâs first two yearsâ 11-5, 11-5. His o-line was much worse. Joe Burrowâs this year was ranked 28th, last year it was atrocious and he got to a Super Bowl. You canât use the o-line excuse anymore. It ainât great but itâs not Herbert-rookie year bad, itâs not Cincinnati last-year-three-years bad, and itâs not close to Andrew Luck, and those guys won, A LOT. âWELL, THE WEAPONS!â⌠Bears have good backs, and an excellent young tight end, they could use another receiver. But again, his protection is better than anyone wants to acknowledge. With Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts I saw tremendous and staggering growth in year 1 to year 2, I didnât with Fields. Heâs more YouTube star. Sensational plays but the little stuffâ footwork, accuracyâ I think you have to consider it. Here are four reasons⌠One more season of average to bad, and youâll get nothing for him. Second, the Bears have a defensive coach and a defensive culture. They [the front office] didnât draft him, heâs not their guy. Third, Chicago probably wonât have the number one pick for awhile. I donât think theyâll be good, but youâre not going to be in this territory again, use the opportunity. Four, you had Khalil Mack and Roquan Smith and you couldnât win games. You think Will Anderson Jr. is going to come in and change the franchise around? They lost ten straight games this year in a down-year for the Packers, and a year the Lions and Vikings defenses were atrocious. You have to consider calling Atlanta and going âwe will give you Justin Fields, give us your no. 8 pickâ. Go get Bryce Young and then get the second or third-best edge rusher. I like Justin Fields but I never thought he was Trevor Lawrence, and I donât think heâs close to Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. Heâs not an Andrew Luck and heâs not a guy who can succeed when the circumstances arenât great. Heâs more Trey Lance, he will work if he gets the right stuff, and I don't think Chicago has the right stuff. If Carr goes to Carolina, and Jimmy goes to Tampa, you think Arthur Blank, the owner of the Falcons, wants to sit there and be awful again? I donât think so.â (Full Segment Above)
