Listen to Arizona Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim join The Rich Eisen Show to discuss his team’s recent signing of superstar defensive end JJ Watt, and explain how his team seemingly jumped the line to pull off the improbable last-minute steal of the three-time Defensive Player of the Year.
Watt signed a two-year, $31 million deal with a competitive Cardinals team that finished 8-8 last season, and who would have made the playoffs if they hadn’t suffered a late-season collapse in Weeks 16 and 17, and losing five of their final seven games after the season starting 6-3.
Watt will turn 32 later this month. He’s been a first-team All-Pro five times but has totaled just 9 sacks combined the last two seasons, including 5 in 16 games in 2020.
Check out the interview above as Keim details how the Cardinals pulled out all the stops to shockingly nab Watt amid a firestorm of rumors of him going to teams the likes of Buffalo, Cleveland, and Green Bay.
