Kyrie Irving on Twitter after Dennis Schroder reportedly dropping the ‘N-word’ during their verbal spat: "The N-word is a derogatory racial slur! It will never be... a term of endearment, reclaimed, flipped. NEVER FORGET ITS FOUL AND TRUE HISTORY! Throw that N-word out the window, right alongside all of those other racist words used to describe my people. We are not slaves or N’s.”
Listen to Lavar Arrington, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and Plaxico Burress discuss last week’s Nets vs. Lakers showdown, which unfortunately culminated in the ejections of two of the game’s best players Kyrie Irving and Dennis Schroder, as Irving didn’t take too well to Schroder allegedly using the n-word at one point during their heated scuffle.
Irving quickly took to Twitter after the incident, denouncing Schroder for using the word and proclaiming that the n-word will never be a ‘term of endearment in the Black community.
The NFL in the last decade has tried to cut down on the word being used while on the field between players as a form of trash-talking, including it in unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for 'abusive language.'
Check out the segment above as the three former NFL players give their insight on the controversy, and discuss how they interpret the n-word in their everyday lives.
