Watch Colin Cowherd count down his list of the top 10 NFL teams after Week 14 in Colin’s latest installment of the Herd Hierarchy rankings. (Video Segment at the Bottom of the Page)
10. Cowboys (9-4) (Last Week: 7)
“They’re 3-0 against the NFC East and three of their next four games are against the NFC East, and they’re going to win those games. They’re the number two scoring offense so on a macro level I like them. The problem is they’re increasingly awful on 3rd down and have a lot of three-and-outs. But the team deserves to be a top 10 team because they just have so many playmakers and that’s how you win close games. That defense has 8 takeaways in the last two starts and that’s why I have them in here. They got off to a huge lead against the Washington Football Team and then they gave it all away because they’re not great on the ‘details’ of offense, but what they are good for is giving you about 29 points a game.”
9. Titans (9-4) (Last Week: 6)
“I think the Titans are better coached than Dallas and they’re going to get Derrick Henry back. What happens when they don’t have Derrick Henry back, they rely on Ryan Tannehill and Ryan Tannehill’s last three games without Derrick Henry he’s got a 65 passer rating. They’ve scored 20 or fewer points in three straight games. Why? Because they don’t have Derrick Henry. They’re very reliant on Derrick Henry and they are getting him back, but I still think they can play with virtually anybody because they get a great pass rush without bringing the blitz, and I think their head coach, Mike Vrabel, is excellent, so I’ll put them at nine.”
8. 49ers (7-6) (Last Week: Unranked)
“If Dallas played them tomorrow I think they’d lose to San Francisco. They’ve won four of five, they’re 5-0 in games without a giveaway. They gotta play perfect football, this is not a team good enough to turn it over and win, it’s NOT what they are. But Jimmy G has 7 straight games with a passer rating over 90, he’s healthy, he’s comfortable, and now he’s with Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle. Garoppolo, like a Dak, needs help -- I’m not saying he doesn’t -- but what I’m saying is we all consider Dak several notches about Garoppolo and I don’t. I love their coach so I think the Niners would beat Tennessee or Dallas if they played them today, so I’ll put them at eight.”
