Former All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown leaked a lengthy text message that he claims was sent from his former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammate Tom Brady.
A screengrab shared on Brown's Snapchat story recently showed a message saved under the contact "TOM BRADY" and dated May 10, 2021, in which the sender expresses concerns over Brown's "erratic and unpredictable emotional behavior."
"You are demonstrating very poor decisions and poor communication to so many people who have gone above and beyond to help you," the message reads. "You are acting selfish and unfortunately many of those people are exhausted by the erratic and unpredictable emotional behavior.
"When I met you, you were humble, willing to learn and anxious to improve things in your life. In a short period of time, you have done those things and accomplished some great things. And very much on the path to success long term.
"Unfortunately you have reverted very much back to a young immature man that is selfish, self-serving, irrational and irresponsible. I for one, am disappointed in many behaviors over the past few months. You have seemed to have lost that humility and that APG. You have gone from hanging around good quality people that had genuine interest in seeing you succeed, to seeing others whose lives are erratic and out of control and leading you down a negative path."
Brady had publicly vouched for both the Patriots and Buccaneers to acquire Brown in 2019 and 2020 and had allowed the receiver to stay at his home on both occasions.
Their relationship took a negative turn in January when Brown stripped off his uniform and ran off the field during the Buccaneers' game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, before being released by Tampa Bay the following day.
Brown has since taken public jabs at Brady, which included calling out the seven-time Super Bowl champion for missing training camp in August, as well as sharing several memes that took joked about Brady's performance during the 2022 season and reports of he his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen going through marital issues prior to their eventual divorce.
Brown was selected by the Steelers at No. 196 overall in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft and quickly emerged as one of the league's best receivers during his nine seasons in Pittsburgh before demanding a trade amid a contract dispute prior to the 2019 season.
The Miami native was later cut by Pittsburgh's trade partner, the then-Oakland Raiders, prior to ever appearing in a regular-season game, having since spent several games in 2019 with the Patriots and the majority of the last two seasons with the Buccaneers, with both tenures ending in controversy.
The 33-year-old was a four-time First-team All-Pro (2014-17), a Second-team All-Pro in 2013, and a seven-time Pro Bowl selection (2011, 2013-18), having led all NFL players in receiving yards twice (2014, 2017), receptions twice (2014, 2015) and receiving touchdowns in 2018.
After being released by the Bucs in January, Brown has served as the president of Kanye West's sports fashion line within his Donda Sports creative content company, as well as continued to focus on his own music career.
Brady, who turned 45 in August, announced his retirement, then un-retirement this offseason ahead of his 23rd NFL season.
Brady is the NFL's all-time passing leader for yards and touchdowns, as well as quarterback wins, among numerous other records.
The San Mateo native spent his first 20 seasons with the Patriots, leading the franchise to an NFL record six Super Bowl championships (tied with the Steelers), before joining the Buccaneers as a free agent in March 2020, which resulted in Tampa Bay winning its second Super Bowl in franchise history, becoming the first NFL team to win a Super Bowl in its home stadium, in February 2021.
