Doug Gottlieb: “I called this back with the Patriots when they signed him and he had that one good game vs. Seattle. He can’t throw a football, guys, he just can’t. He’s not going to play in the NFL because he was never accurate and now he can’t even throw a football. If you can’t throw a football you can’t play. He’s never been a reader of defenses, he’s taken a savage beating, and he’s a gigantic body and a great athlete, but obviously that’s been limited from how many hits he’s taken. He was the Rookie of the Year, the MVP, and he’s been to the Super Bowl – is he a Hall of Famer? I don’t even get the ‘aura’ people are talking about, like what aura? I think Cam thinks he has an aura and I think there are guys that look up to Cam, but the proof is in the pudding, he hasn’t thrown a football well in years. People forget how bad he was in New England at the end. He had three games as the starter when he didn’t even throw for 100 yards in an era where most of these guys are throwing for 4,000 yards and we’ve reached the 5,000-yard plateau. He’s only thrown for 4,000 yards once in his career. Granted he’s a dynamic weapon as a runner, but he was bad in the Super Bowl, and he was MVP one year, but if you go back and look at that Super Bowl year when they were 15-1 they played one team with a winning record all season long. Despite the fact that he was the no. 1 overall pick and he did get them to the Super Bowl the year he was the MVP, I don’t see it [Newton making the Hall of Fame].” (Full Audio Above)

Check out the segment above as Gottlieb proclaims that Cam is NOT a Hall of Famer, and his career has actually been over for a lot longer than you think.
