Ric Bucher: Not Suspending Anthony Davis For Groin Kick Would Be Unfair

Jason Smith: “Were the refs right in allowing Anthony Davis to keep playing in the game?”

Ric Bucher: “No, the real question is going to be – we’ve seen this happen with a LeBron-involved team; let’s go back to Draymond Green in Game 5 when he takes a swing at LeBron’s private parts as LeBron steps over him. He was not tossed out of that game, but he was suspended in the subsequent game because they felt that that particular situation was not adjudicated severely enough. That is where precedent has been set, and that’s where things get real interesting. If Anthony Davis is not suspended for the next game it would raise serious questions about ‘okay, so why did you do it the way you did it with Draymond?’ In this case, it looks like you got it wrong, and I don’t know how you defend that in saying it’s only a Flagrant 1, when just the previous game Cameron Payne got tossed for what, shoving Alex Caruso?... That sequence of events got him two techs and out of the game, and yet Anthony Davis in sort of an uninstigated situation does what he does but you get to stick around. I don’t see the fairness. When I add up all the precedence I don’t see how that happens, but they have an opportunity to come back and get it right.” (Audio Segment Above)

Listen to Fox Sports NBA insider Ric Bucher join The Jason Smith Show to explain why he thinks the NBA will face a lot of heat if they don’t suspend Anthony Davis for Game 3 of their first-round series with the Suns, saying the league has set a precedent before with Draymond Green infamously missing Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals because of a kick to Lebron James’ groin in the previous game.

Check out the interview above as Bucher details why he wouldn’t be surprised if the NBA suspends AD for Game 3.
