Jason Smith: “Draymond Green is the ultimate wild card. He’ll ruin your season and he will also ruin his OWN team’s season. When he feels like winning it’s great, when he doesn’t feel like winning he’s completely disruptive. After this [the Jordan Poole punch] I’m pretty certain this is going to be Draymond’s last year with the Warriors. Not just because of this but in the overall scheme of things the Warriors have a lot of stuff to figure out. Draymond Green has an expiring contract coming up, and he’s got a player option after this year. They also wanna make sure they sign Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, and Klay Thompson. All four of them are players that the Warriors want to keep after they re-started their dynasty. BEFORE this, Draymond Green was probably the last out of the four that you were going to extend. He's 32, and is he valuable as he once was? No, he’s not. Is he more valuable in stretches and spurts in the playoffs – he is, but he’s not the player he once was. Of those four guys, Draymond is fourth. You gotta extend Wiggins and Poole, they’re younger and more dynamic. Already before this Draymond was at the end, but now after this, I’m pretty sure this is going to be it for Draymond and they’re going to find a way out. Either he opts out of his contract to go someplace else, or the Warriors decide they’re going to move him. This is the cherry on top of that sundae, it’s ‘who are we looking to extend past this year?’ and Draymond Green is now off that list. After this I don’t see there being any way they give him a big extension. They are now starting their Draymond Green exit strategy.” (Full Segment Above)
Listen to Jason Smith of Fox Sports Radio explain why he thinks the Warriors have now begun their ‘exit strategy’ with Draymond Green after his incident with Jordan Poole where leaked camera footage showed him slugging Poole directly in the face during Warriors practice.
Check out the segment above as Smith details why the punch allowed the Warriors to make their final conclusion on who their core is going to be going forward, and that won't include Draymond.
