Broussard: Why Kevin Durant Will Never Be Mentioned in the 'GOAT' Debate

Kevin Durant when asked by 'Arizona Republic' ‘why don’t you think you’re in the GOAT conversation?’: “Why shouldn’t I be in it? That’s the question you should ask. Why not? What haven’t I done?”

Chris Broussard: “Kevin Durant believes he should be in the ‘GOAT’ conversation. Nobody in their right mind would deny that Kevin Durant is an all-time great player. I’d definitely say a ‘top 25’ player. Most people probably have him top 20. There is no way he’s in the ‘GOAT’ conversation. The only time it has ever even been brought up in the ‘GOAT’ conversation is right now [as we speak]. If you’re in the ‘GOAT’ conversation, others should put you in it, it’s not going to be because you said ‘HEY, WHY AM I NOT IN IT??... He said ‘what haven't I done?’ I don’t wanna say it in an insulting tone, I’m just going to say it matter-of-factly... I think there are generally three players in the ‘GOAT’ conversation. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Wilt isn’t really in it; he’s got all those numbers, but he only won two rings. Larry Bird for goodness sake isn’t in it. Shaq isn’t in it. Magic isn’t in it. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – what were they that Kevin Durant is not? All-time great defenders. KD says ‘what haven’t I done?’ That’s what you haven’t done. You’ve never made an All-Defensive team. LeBron James made six All-Defensive teams. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made 12. Michael Jordan made nine and was a Defensive Player of the Year. That’s it. KD is a great scorer, but he’s mainly just a scorer. He’s not a passer like LeBron, or a passer like Magic. He mainly scores. Kareem is a defender, a great rebounder... LeBron is a tremendous passer along with scoring, and Michael Jordan was a fantastic defender along with scoring. They did more than just score.”

Watch Chris Broussard and Rob Parker of Fox Sports Radio’s The Odd Couple call out Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant for a recent interview he did in which he questioned why he’s not in the discussion of ‘Greatest Player in NBA History’ alongside players like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Check out the segment above as Broussard explains to KD what component his game lack, and why he’ll simply only be in the conversation of rankings involving the ‘top 25’ players of all time, or ‘top 20’ at the very best.
