Ben Simmons: “For me, it was just making sure mentally that I was right to get out there and play again, so that’s been something that I’ve been dealing with. It wasn’t about the fans, or coaches, or comments made by anybody, it was just a personal thing for me that was earlier than that series or that season that I was dealing with and that organization knew that. It was something that I continue to deal with, and I’m getting there and getting to the right place to get out back there on the floor.”
Chris Broussard: “I think Ben Simmons is lying. I’m not criticizing him, I’m not trying to disparage his character, but what I’m saying is that there is a time when you don’t need to tell everyone your business…. I don’t believe what he said. I DO believe it was Philly, I DO believe it was some people on the team, some of the people in the organization, and some of the fans… In the press conference, Ben Simmons came off as confident, calm, comfortable, and seemed fine. That is good for Brooklyn. If it wasn’t Doc, it wasn’t Embiid, and it wasn’t the fans, then what was it? If you’re just going through personal issues then EVERYONE'S got personal issues. Everybody has got some anxieties, some fears, some challenges…I think that was a good sign for Brooklyn that Ben Simmons was lying… This is an important issue with our society and our sports leagues. There are legitimate mental health issues, but there are also issues, challenges, anxieties, fears, dislikes, and offenses that we all must deal with. It’s called LIFE. Everything isn’t supposed to be peachy keen. It’s great if it is, but just because you’re uncomfortable doesn’t mean somebody is doing you wrong, or doesn’t mean we gotta do a ‘restart.’ You have to deal with hardships. You gotta wake up and do your job. We have to find that medium between somebody really needing some help and ‘you just gotta push through this.’ We can’t just let every little thing that offends somebody mean we gotta re-do society. Some people might not be built for jobs where you’re in the public eye. If you can’t handle stuff like that then maybe you’re not built for a public job.” (Full Segment Above)
