Colin Cowherd: “Aaron Rodgers in any other era would probably be retiring after the season. He’s 38 years old right now. Here is a list of guys who retired at 38-39 years old: Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Big Ben, Joe Montana, John Elway, Steve Young, Kurt Warner, and Dan Marino. Aikman (34) played in a different era, and Bradshaw (35) played in an era where you could literally body slam quarterbacks on the concrete AstroTurf. But 38 is the reasonable number, it’s time to wrap it up. It’s a lot of hits, you can walk away, not hobble away. It so happens that Aaron plays in the era of the most willful, brand-conscious, driven, ascending, and healthiest [players]… He has three years left on his contract but even the Packers have acknowledged that it’s three one-year deals. I do not think he will finish his Green Bay contract. I don’t know if he will play more than three years. He is a different cat, and he’s got lots of interests. I don’t think people realize how much money guys like Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes make OFF the field. I saw a list of the money Mahomes makes off the field and it’s way more than his football income. Now we’ve added another layer with social media income. A lot of guys just made ‘football money’, but it’s not as close as to what it is now [the endorsements]. If you’re 38 and you’re a football quarterback, it is a perfect time to walk away, not hobble away, and I don’t think Aaron finishes his three years. If he had a really good year this year and got thumped in the playoffs and said ‘hey man’, it’s been a hell of a ride – money, Hall of Fame, legacy all set’ [and then retired]… I would get it.” (Full Video Above)
