Rob Parker: Durant/Kyrie/Harden Nets Were Biggest Failure in Sports History

Rob Parker: “If I were a Nets fan I would be pissed to the high heavens. They went from relevant to irrelevant to overnight.”
Chris Broussard: “Guess how many games Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden played together? Sixteen, think about that. Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t think so… This is the biggest disappointment and failure in NBA history.”
Parker: “It might be sports history when you talk about putting a team together. They played 16 games together, we never got to see them be who they were supposed to be. Do you remember Game 2 against Milwaukee the year the Bucks won the championship? They ran them out of the gym [2021 Eastern Conference semifinals]. Game 2 they won by like 35, and then all the sudden Kyrie got hurt in Game 3, and James Harden got hurt 18 seconds into Game 1.”
Broussard: “You have to be fair and say injuries played a part, but I’m going to name some other teams that people would consider ‘failures.’ Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, and Elgin Baylor played three years together and never won a championship… BUT, West, Wilt, and Gail Goodrich won the championship the year that Elgin Baylor retired. Barkley, Olajuwon, and Pippen/Drexler, because it was Drexler first and then Pippen. Their first year together when it was Drexler they went to the Western Conference Finals and lost to the Utah team that Jordan beat in the Finals with Malone and Stockton, and then they never won another playoff series after they replaced Drexler with Pippen. But at least they got to the conference finals and won two series. This team won one series, so I do believe it is the biggest disappointment in the history of the NBA.”

Watch Chris Broussard and Rob Parker discuss the disastrous leveling of the Brooklyn Nets ‘Big Three’, as Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving have all moved on from what some people believed was going to be the league’s next great dynasty.

Check out the segment above as Rob and Chris debate whether those Brooklyn Nets will go down as the biggest failures in NBA history, as Chris presents some other infamous botched dynasties.
