Watch Colin Cowherd and Joel Klatt release the first sixteen picks of their 2023 NFL Mock Draft with the draft set to begin in exactly one week.
Here were the most notable observations from a first round that might result in one of the most volatile quarterback grabs in recent history.
Colin Cowherd on Bryce Young no. 1 to Carolina: “I worry about his size but I think he’s the most ready to play, and this organization has been in quarterback chaos for 4-5 years. It’s time to get out of it.”
Joel Klatt on CJ Stroud no. 2 to Houston: “There is not a more accurate quarterback in this draft class. What I love the most about his game is he plays with a chip on his shoulder.”
Colin on Will Anderson no. 3 to Arizona Cardinals: “My guess is someone in the building talks them out of Jalen Carter, which I think is a mistake. They’ve had so much bad publicity in the last six months that people are going to be a little fearful of taking Carter, who’s got some baggage.”
Joel on Anthony Richardson no. 4 to Indianapolis Colts: “Yes, there is a ‘project’ nature to him, and he needs to develop, but guess what? That’s more common now in the NFL than ever before. Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert were a ‘project.’”
Colin on Jalen Carter no. 5 to Seattle Seahawks: “He is the best player in the draft, Pete’s history with USC— he’ll take some baggage and he’s not afraid of it. He fits the DNA of Carroll and John Schneider with taking big swings.”
