Blazin' 5: Colin Cowherd Gives His Five Best NFL Bets For Week 16

(VIDEO SEGMENT ABOVE)

Week 15 Blazin' 5 record: 4-0-1

Blazin' 5 season record: 38-29-3

Lions at Panthers (SPREAD: DET -2.5)

“I’m taking the Panthers at home +2.5. They’re 5-2 this year when they rush for over 100 yards, and they’re 0-7 when they don’t. I don’t like the Lions defense against the run on the road. Here is the other thing— Jared Goff home and road splits you gotta notice them. He’s not the same guy away from home. 82.5 passer rating [compared to 106.9 at home], and twice as many giveaways as touchdowns. This defense will give Carolina and Sam Darnold opportunities, Carolina is at home for the holidays, plus the points I’m going to take them with an upset win, 30-24 Panthers, Lions cool off a little bit.”

Colin's prediction: Panthers 30, Lions 24.

Colin's pick: Carolina +2.5

Bengals at Patriots (SPREAD: CIN -3)

“How about this for an upset? New England +3 is the side. Off a humiliating loss, perhaps the most embarrassing of Belichick or Matt Patricia’s career. Remember, this team has scored 99 points off turnovers, the most in the league. The Patriots defense has 11 sacks over the last three games—they’re starting to get consistent pressure, and their defense has been top 3-5 all year long. The Bengals trailed the Bucs 17-0 until Tampa Bay imploded. Cincinnati is on a 6-game winning streak but only one was against a winning team. Cold, super windy, will limit the vertical passing game. Patriots in an ugly game where they control the line of scrimmage, 24-23 upset. By the way, the Bengals are a little dinged up on their defensive front.”

Colin's prediction: Patriots 24, Bengals 23.

Colin's pick: New England +3

Commanders at 49ers (SPREAD: SF -6.5)

“I would buy a point or a half-point if I could, but I'm going to take Commanders +6.5, liked it way better at +7.5 but here it is. The Commanders averaged 6.7 yards per play last week against a good Giants defense. The last five road games the Commanders are 4-0-1, they strangely play better on the road. Since Week 5, Washington is the league's best defense and Chase Young returns. The Niners are a little beat up— Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, their top corner Travarius Ward is coming off a concussion. I think the Niners win but Washington's defense with Chase Young is going to get pressure on Brock Purdy, they're going to have some tape on him, 26-23 Niners. It'll be ugly, it'll be close, take the points."

Colin's prediction: 49ers 26, Commanders 23.

Colin's pick: Washington +6.5

Raiders at Steelers (SPREAD: PIT -2)

“Steelers -2 at home to me is the play. They have won three of four, their only loss was a close loss to the Ravens. Their defense is very, very strong. Beyond the defense, Kenny Pickett off the concussion protocol will return. He has not thrown a pick in his last five starts, he’s starting to get it, and he’s 3-1 in his last four healthy starts. The Raiders defense does not force you into turnovers at all, and the Steelers defense does. In fact, the Raiders defense is the only team allowing a 100+ passer ratings to quarterbacks all year. If it was three, maybe I’d pass, but only -2? Pittsburgh is going to win it, I think it’s close, 27-23.”

Colin's prediction: Steelers 27, Raiders 23.

Colin's pick: Pittsburgh -2

Packers at Dolphins (SPREAD: MIA -3.5)

“All the wiseguys love the Packers, I do not. I think Miami coming home against a borderline playoff team is going to thrive. I loved how they played against Buffalo in lousy weather. They had 405 yards, almost 190 rushing [against Buffalo]. It’s their first home game since Week 12 and they’ve been 5-1 at home. Tua is 5-0 at home with a passer rating of almost 109. Five of the Packers wins this year, two have come against the Bears, one against the Rams, Bucs, and Patriots. This is a high-powered Dolphins offense and the Packers are not. Do you realize Aaron Rodgers has been held under 200 yards passing in two of his last three games, and he’s gone 18 consecutive games under 300 yards passing? This team isn’t good enough to go on the road and beat a quality team, and I think Miami is. 27-20, Miami over Green Bay. Wiseguys like the Packers, I do not.”

Colin's prediction: Dolphins 27, Packers 20.

Colin's pick: Miami -3.5
